DYE NT - CHEAT SHEETS
Need help troubleshooting your Dye NT? Look no further. Here are the main issues that may arise in your NT and how to fix them.
First things first. It is important to keep your gun maintained as much as possible/necessary. Lubing your gun after every 1 or 2 practices (every 3 cases) is the best way to avoid any problems occuring. However s**t happens so here's some help on how to narrow down your issues and fix them quickly. Remember most of the time its a simple fix so take a deep breath and relax.
Leak down the barrel
First you need to determine whether the leak is from the bolt or around the bolt. Place your finger in the breach and press back against the bolt to see if pressure builds up behind your finger. If pressure builds up then its from the bolt otherwise you will feel the air leaking around the sides.
* If its through the bolt face then you may need to replace the front 010 oring on the spool
* If its through the bolt face then you may need to replace the front 014 oring on the plunger
* If its around the bolt then either replace the 017 inside-cylinder oring or the front 020 sleeve oring on the cylinder.
Leak from the back cap
* If its leaking through the back cap around the bleed button you may need to replace the two 005 orings on the bleed button. Also check your reg pressure.
* If its leaking around the back cap make sure your bolt kit is screwed in correctly and replace the rear-most 020 sleeve oring on the back cap
Leak heard from the trigger area between body and frame
Alot of people will jump to conclusions here thinking that their solenoid is screwed. This is very rare. Take a step back and check the following first:
* Check the bolt kit is inserted properly into the body and screwed in fully
* Replace the 020 sleeve oring on the plunger
* Check that the spool is inserted correctly
* Replace the rear 010 orings on the spool
* Check/replace the 011 oring on the end of the spacer rod where it screws into the plunger
* Check that the Hyper3 reg is set correctly
* If all the above fails check your solenoid *Do this only as a last resort as these parts seldom fail*
Note: when dealing with leaks from the grip/underside of the body of the gun it is always handy to remove the frame and then gas the gun to identify more clearly where the leak is occuring.
Other Leaks
Occasionally you may find that one of the blanking plugs used to seal off an air chamber inside the gun starts to leak. If this happens simply remove the plug, clean it with rubing alcohol, as well as the threads that it screws into and replace using red loc-tite.
NT Doesnt Cycle
* Check that the battery is fresh
* Check that the dwell is set to stock
* Check/replace the 017 oring on the inside of the cylinder
* Check/replace the 016 oring on the bolt
* Check the Hyper3 reg seat is not damaged
* Check that the bolt moves smoothly when assembled
* Check the trigger adjustment screws do not prevent the the trigger from activating/releasing the microswitch
* Check all plugs connections, if all else fails replace the solenoid
First shot too high
* Check/replace the Hyper reg seat
Inconsistant velocity
* Check that the paint to barrel match is good
* Check that the bolt moves smoothly when assembled
* Check/replace the 014 bolt tip oring
* Check that the battery is fresh
* Check that the dwell is set to stock (if it is at the stock setting you can try and increase it by 1 or 2)
* Check the hyper3 reg seat and pressure - service the reg if necessary
Marker won't turn on
Marker/eyes turn on/off constantly
* Check that the battery is fresh and is installed properly.
* Check that the buttons move freely - there should be no dirt jamming it up.
* Remove the board and buttons and clean out all dirt and debris from inside the grip frame
Eyes do not "see" each other/Marker shooting slow with eyes on
* Clean the eyes
* Check the eye pipe for cracks/scratches, replace if necessary
* Check that the battery is fresh and properly installed/connected
* Replace the eyes if necessary
Solenoid does not activate/shoots once only
* Check that the trigger is not constantly holding the microswitch down, or that it is not set so that it cannot activate the switch
* Check the battery is fresh and all conncetion are okay
* Check that the dwell is set to stock (you can increase the dwell by 1 or 2 for colder weather)
Marker turns off while shooting
* Replace the battery and check that there is no damage to the connections
* Check buttons for dirt or debris. Remove them and clean them.
